The construction of the largest biofuel plant in southern Europe will allow us to double our 2G biofuel production capacity: SAF, HVO 100 renewable diesel and biogas will allow for the acceleration of decarbonization in heavy land, air, and maritime transportation, as well as in the industry.
water
500.000 tons per year.
co2
2G biofuels will prevent the emission of 3 million tons of CO2 per year.
location
Located next to our "La Rábida" energy park in Palos de la Frontera, Huelva.
security
Construction began in February 2024, and it will start production in 2026.
Learn about the characteristics and benefits of the new plant, which is being built as part of our goal to lead the production of 2G biofuels in Spain and Portugal.
Thanks to the use of renewable hydrogen, 100% renewable electricity, and various heat recovery, and energy efficiency systems, the plant will emit 75% less CO2 than a traditional biofuel plant. In addition, it is designed to achieve net zero emissions in the medium term.
This project has a 1.2-billion-euro investment and will contribute to the creation of 2,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction and operation phases.
The plant will not use fresh water. It will only use reclaimed water, and its water emissions will have a minimal impact on the ecosystem, thanks to its robust water treatment plant.
In addition to SAF and HVO 100 renewable diesel, it will produce biogas, a fundamental raw material for producing green hydrogen, which is critical to decarbonizing the industry. In addition, with biogas treatment, biogenic CO2 is captured, which is essential to produce green methanol and essential to decarbonizing maritime transport.
We promote the decarbonization of air transport with Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF).
A 2G biofuel that acts as a solution to accelerate the decarbonization of hard-to-electrify sectors.
