Ecoblue

Ecoblue is the AdBlue manufactured by Cepsa. It is a synthetic product consisting of a urea solution in water that reduces emissions in light and heavy vehicles.
It is a product specifically designed for vehicles with Selective Catalytic Reduction technology. Ecoblue is not added to the fuel tank, but rather it reacts in the catalytic converter with the gases generated during combustion, converting nitrogen dioxide into pure nitrogen and water (steam).
Every vehicle using AdBlue has an auxiliary tank in which the additive can be refueled at service stations that now offer it together with the fuel, either in drums or bottles or both. Each car must be fitted with a sensor that monitors the amount of liquid remaining and when it needs to be replenished.

Ecoblue is a product designed exclusively for the optimum functioning of Selective Catalytic Reduction systems, reducing the harmful effect of NOx gases on the exhaust pipe, which are the main components of air pollution. It does not affect the operation of the catalytic converter, since it is a product certified under DIN V 70070, which guarantees its good quality.

In addition to its significant environmental effect, Ecoblue ensures the proper functioning of sophisticated Selective Catalytic Reduction systems. If it is not used, there is a risk of damage to the system and failure to meet legal requirements.

Since 1988, the European Union has implemented several pieces of legislation to reduce pollutant emissions from vehicles manufactured and marketed in the countries that make up the European Union. The current edition for light vehicles is Euro 6, while for heavy vehicles it is Euro VI.

Ecoblue is sold at Cepsa Service Stations, in 10 liter-containers and at the pump.

Ecoblue's useful life is 12 months. It must be stored between -11 and 30ºC, so it is necessary to protect it from sunlight and low temperatures.

Ecoblue has no safety measures in particular, since it is not classified as dangerous for road, rail or maritime transport. Furthermore, it is a non-toxic product and its composition makes combustion impossible.
