Tack coating is defined as the application of a bituminous emulsion on a layer treated with bituminous binders prior to the placement on it of any type of bituminous coat that is not simply a surface treatment.
Bituminous emulsions play a fundamental role by acting as a glue between two layers of asphalt mix, avoiding possible slippage between them as well as the access of water to the lower layers, protecting the infrastructure.
The emulsions recommended for this application comply with the specifications of the General Technical Specifications for Road Works and Bridges (PG-3) and those contained in the UNE- EN 13808 standard. These include:
